The place is a disgrace to the history of our beautiful country. I have a lot of family buried at this cemetery and am finding it distressing to see the desecration of beautiful old headstones which are being removed to make way for new.

A grave should be a place family can visit their loved ones forever. Not have people tramping all over their resting place when burying new people & all because they don't knew they are there as the headstones have been moved!! Disgusting.

A dreadful practice & absolutely no respect for the deceased & their families.

Headstones of our loved ones and our pioneers and war veterans that are out of grant are being removed from the plots. I trusted my loved ones to this cemetery for perpetuity but the grants are only 25 years. RIP is a fallacy

I am devastated that the cemetery are removing headstones and doing burials between older graves. My grandfathers headstone will be removed, perhaps destroyed. How will I find him? My great grandmother has already disappeared and her headstone thrown out with the rubbish. My grandfather fought in the Great War. Doesnt he count for anything? LEST WE FORGET. How quickly the cemetery have forgotten..all those war vets who fought for US, they are being treated like rubbish. How will i pay my respects to my grandfather? He is not important as far as the cemetery is concerned. He lost his sight during the war, he gave his sight for his country. This same country no longer has any respect for him. Shall I continue with other family war vets? No, because no one cares. They, too, are thrown out. I warn everyone to think carefully before using this cemetery for burials. It wont be long before your loved ones graves are destroyed! I always planned to spend eternity in this cemetery but my plans are now changed. Shame on you, Karrakatta, bow your heads in shame for disrespecting our dead and our war veterans.

I think it is disgraceful that Karrakatta feels it has the right to remove stones and reuse the plots. Cemeteries the world over are renowned for their longevity and prosperity of family and loss. I have personally been doing family research for nearly 40 years. Karrakatta was one of my favourite places to research and wander. Not anymore. Shame on you all on the Board of Karrakatta Cemetery. Couldn't think to find new land?? Our history is being lost because of you. People spend thousands of dollars for the sense of prosperity and remembrance of their loved one. Disgusting, disgraceful and shameful.
